Wow, that Encaustic Art was simply brilliant! With a twist of her wrist and a flick of the iron Maree had a beautiful shiny picture on a card in no time at all. Great blocks of coloured wax, some simply gorgeous examples of work – we were amazed. Thank you for sharing that Maree, it was such fun.
There was such a lot going on, thank you to everyone who contributed the fabulous food, and a big well done to the Barista team – Irene and Tony – we love you guys! The Buy or Barter table had a great variety of offerings – plants, bunny batts, bunny fibre, wool cards, tomatoes, banana passionfruit, potatoes – so great to share our crafts and our surpluses with each other. Show and Tell was such fun – Wilma with her Silver Medals for swimming and her brilliant scarves and her great Button Vest, Pauline with a variety as usual including great zipper jewellery, Jeanette with a fabulously re-crafted jacket, Nikki and Jennifer with Fish Beanies, Felting by Marie and Nikki and Pauline, Judy with a Linen stitch scarf for which the pattern is attached here, Marie with a divine possum and bunny curly neck scarf, Nikki with a needle-felted sheep, Megan with wool skeins, Cathy’s boys with Viking weaving, and more. I learnt a bit from Tully about Viking clothing and use of colour and it inspired me to look up some websites, here and here if you are interested. I know that Cathy has done some research and that some weaving has been happening!!! Perhaps she will share with us her endeavours to date next time we meet???
This month some of us supported the Upper Huon History Society with a fundraising twilight market which was a great success. Crafters have donated $50 to the group for which they were very grateful, and asked for further support over the next few months in sharing the hall with us while the Glen Huon Community Hall is renovated. So they will be joining us and using 2 tables up the end of the hall for their information and research tools. Please make them welcome.
Judy and Janet reminded me of the Wear a Bonnet – Living Art Installation – Sunday May 10 If you wish to be a part of this exciting installation then you must register with Christina Henri by emailing her on cjhenri at her gmail.com address. There is a limit of 2000 people.
Crafters next meet on Monday 11 May, what about a theme? So inspired by Wilma, lets make it BUTTONS! Look forward to your show and tell – all about BUTTONS. Enjoy the pics, remember, click on any pic and it will start a slideshow.
